In today’s disconnected healthcare world, many of your health records are scattered throughout—and under the control of—a variety of providers and payers. Your medication and prescription history is most likely stored in various systems across several different pharmacies. Your self-care information, such as diet and exercise routines, is typically not available at all online.
The Solution
Microsoft HealthVault is a consumer-owned and driven platform that allows for safe, secure, and portable storage of your and your family’s health records. Microsoft HealthVault puts the consumer in charge of their health information, in one central, secure location.
A growing number of healthcare providers are using HealthVault to make their stored health records available to the consumer. 
In addition, a growing number of applications are available that allow consumers to directly view, share (with their permission) and add to their body of HealthVault healthcare information. HealthVault lets people consolidate their health and fitness information into one easily accessible account, enabling them to become more informed and active in managing their health.
HealthVault Services
Solution Design Group helps companies integrate new or existing solutions with Microsoft HealthVault. We work with healthcare providers, plan companies and other non-profit organizations to extend their applications to interoperate with HealthVault.

At the data exchange level, we have deep experience in standards such as the Continuity of Care Record (CCR) and Continuity of Care Document (CCD). Solution Design Group is the only Twin Cities-based Microsoft Certified Microsoft HealthVault consulting partner. Playing a variety of roles, we have been actively engaged in a large number of HealthVault-related assignments. We are also actively involved with Microsoft in a variety of projects in and around the HealthVault platform.
Fitness toolkits, to kick start your wellness programs
Solution Design Group has created a fully functioning, fully tested toolkit to help our clients build robust fitness and wellness applications powered by HealthVault . This toolkit provides a starting point for our customers, allowing them to accelerate implementation and to ensure successful integration and development efforts on the HealthVault platform.
WORKatHealth—a fully native HealthVault fitness application
We used our toolkit as the basis for an in-house application and proof-of-concept called WORKatHealth. We’ve been using this application internally for nearly a year to engage our own employees in wellness activities.
Participants can:
Set goals for themselves, or create teams that can compete against each other to meet overall company-wide goals or competitions.- Enter and store their fitness journal information in the portable and interoperable HealthVault system.
- Post to the “brag board” daily or at the end of competition.
Solution Design Group is also actively developing a mobile version of WORKatHealth to compliment its web-based version. This mobile version is aimed at supporting some of the tasks users need to track their fitness and nutritional information while on the go. Users can add entries into their fitness journals and also view some of the system’s communications-oriented features (blogs entries, event feeds). The mobile version is also web-based, meaning it will support a variety mobile devices.
