Project Delivery
Since 1989 Solution Design Group Inc. (SDG), has provided a variety of Project Delivery services to our clients. In every project, SDG project managers create or follow a set of traditional guidelines or principles dependant on your situation. This approach provides a variety of project delivery services to your organization. SDG can take your project from conception to completion by utilizing our flexible project delivery process. We can provide a complete solution with all of the necessary resources, or a senior level project manager to guide your initiatives.
SDG project managers generally use the tools available at the client site. All of our project managers are members of the Project Management Institute, and SDG has experience working with a number of project delivery methodologies, from proprietary methodologies to Arthur Andersen's Method One. The majority of SDGs clients use some version of Microsoft Project or Project Workbench in order to track the projects progress. For in-house SDG development projects, a Proprietary Project Delivery Methodology is applied, and progress is tracked using MS Project. SDG's Project Managers also possess heavy exposure to Rational Unified Process and all of its associated tools.
Success with any project requires an accurate and thorough project plan. From the project plan, timelines and work assignments are established for each deliverable. The project plan is built based on the strategic planning of your organization. The project manager works with the designers and developers to assure that they are on track to meet your objectives and performance measures. At the same time, the project manager communicates with the users, the project sponsor, and senior management to convey the status of the project. Coordination is primarily a function of communication, with the project manager at the focal point of all lines of communication, evaluating risk and quality management.
Project scope is a negotiated issue. The project plan details for the sponsor, as well as the development staff, exactly what has to be delivered. When the requirements of the sponsor change, the scope of the project may be affected (i.e. sometimes referred to as scope creep). A change of scope implies the potential for a delayed delivery, extra costs, or both. Our project managers respond to changes in project scope by evaluating the effects of the change as accurately as possible, then communicating the information to the project sponsor. With all of the facts in hand, the sponsor can make an informed determination of what direction to follow.
Strategic Planning - Performance Measurement - Risk Assessment - Quality Management
All of these skills form a disciplined effort. Combined, they produce fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide what your organization is, what you decide to do and why you do it. Our project managers can measure your project's performance and provide valuable feedback to team members and senior management. Our project managers will also provide you and your team with a quantitative measure of risks involved in your project. Results from the risk assessment feed into your project plan to provide focused and cost effective risk analysis. Our objective is yours - measure quality and return on your investment.
