Get to Know Ashley Sime: SDG’s Technical Recruiter

“The people around me give me energy and life.”

What do you do?

I look to connect and build relationships with technical talent in the Twin Cities, while finding the very best talent for the SDG team.

What do you like most about your job?

Getting to meet awesome people that are really passionate about what they do.

“I enjoy getting to offer people great opportunities to better themselves and their lives.”

Why do you enjoy being a Recruiter?

It’s really fun to help people realize their potential and achieve their goals. I enjoy getting to offer people great opportunities to better themselves and their lives.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

I enjoy being around my family and friends – I have a wonderful husband, a dog, an almost 2 year old boy, and another baby boy on the way, so they keep me busy! We enjoy being outdoors – boating, checking out local breweries and wineries, playing games, or watching a good movie or series on Netflix.

What is something that someone might not know about you?

I was a Math Tutor in college! I actually love math. I also had to have facial reconstructive surgery when I was 17 years old from a severe softball accident. I now have a titanium plate in my cheek that holds it all together.

What topics do you find interesting that not everyone does?

I’m fascinated by personality tests; I am really into capturing moments for my family via pictures and creating annual picture books. I also research EVERYTHING (from a new mattress to a new car, to appliances, and beyond), I put a ton of time into researching things to make sure I find the best product for my needs.

What would your friends say about you?

My friends call me “Prepared Peterson” (Peterson, my maiden name). I am always prepared, have everything you could potentially need in my purse, and HATE feeling unprepared. They would tell you I am prepared, and I am very organized especially when planning something (I typically come with spreadsheets and all!)

Where did you go to college?

UMD – Go Bulldogs!

Are you involved in any causes?

I tend to volunteer sporadically when it’s with other people (i.e. Ronald McDonald House with coworkers, Open Arms MN with coworkers, etc.). However, causes that are near and dear to my heart are animal rescues and children who have passed away. My dog means the world to me, and he is a rescue. I can’t imagine my life without him. Also, one of my best friends lost her nephew to SIDS several years ago. Faiths Lodge is a nonprofit I feel very strongly for, that helps families who have lost their children. I do whatever I can to support these organizations – through fundraisers, events, and via financial contributions.

What’s your favorite sport or sports team?

Favorite SPORT is Football. We are MN Gopher football season ticket holders, but even more so, I LOVE the Vikings and have been a huge fan since I was a little girl! Overall though, I am an MN sports fan and will cheer for them all!

Where’s your favorite place in the world and why?

My most favorite place I’ve ever been is Cinque Terre in Italy. It’s absolutely stunning, the little towns along the Mediterranean are full of life and culture, and it’s a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Not to mention the amazing wine and focaccia bread I drank and ate there.

Who do you find inspiring?

Those who conquer life’s hardest moments with grace and positivity.

What makes you excited to come to work?

The people around me give me energy and life.
